How can I copy a VHS video into the computer?

Does the VCR have to be connected to a TV while recording? I do have all the proper cables and the Roxi program, but it is of little help. Is there an easier way to get results?

No easy results.
It really depends on what you are trying to copy.
If it is a TV show you have to Copy Video out to Video In, and Audio Out to Audio IN and then you copy it that way.
Roxio is only used when copying Video from movies that you have ripped first. It sounds like you need to do a little more reading.
It isn;t as simple as just hooking up a couple of cable and hit record.
It depends on the format of the media you are trying.
many times you need A converter to convert VHS to DVD and it will be built in to a player that does that.
